“post human” gets great album reviews
We are very happy with all the positive reviews and feedback.
Sullen are my Herod of 2015. You don’t know Herod or Sullen? Shame on you. Both bands deliver an awesome blend of Post and Math Metal. In the vein of great acts like Textures or Eryn Non Dae, Sullen combine heavy-ass grooves with a dark and drowning atmosphere and magnificent vocals!
…a complex blend of jazz metal, progressive and post-rock with a hint of melodic death metal. Some songs are technical and slighty brutal, but some other ones are full of harmony and audacity. The whole is simply perfect… This is without any doubt the best release I heard for the past 10 years… nº1 position of my top 10.
“Sullen plays a style of progressive metal that is very modern and also brings in the heaviness of doom and death metal along with some elements of experimental to create a very original sound, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording…”
“…it’s basically great, smart, clever, and emotional… Like many of the great modern progressive rock acts of this day and age, Steven Wilson, Lunatic Soul, Opeth, Devin Townsend, Sullen know what strings to pull and when. Wonderfully constructed and fantastically gratifying.”
“Sullen is just what their name implies – moody sounds that crosses a huge musical landscape filled with dark ambient textures, atmospherics and a deep resonant power that will stay with you long after you listen to the album.”
“It is impossible to say whether it would be like if Oblique Rain would sound if they kept on their artistic maturation process, but it’s not difficult to argue that Sullen are already one of the most exciting progressive metal projects in Portugal.”
Post Human is the first chapter of Sullen that, I dare to say, appears as a serious candidate for album of the year in Portugal.” “…an extremely well accomplished album and able to rival with the best done so far within the genre.
“Sullen is the proof that life goes on and that there is still much to explore. For the national musical underground this is the welcoming of one of their best line-up ever and therefore one of its most engaging albums.”
I’m enjoying this little beauty right now, and… breathtaking! Amazing fretwork and the atmosphere is so damn intense. Fans of Proghma-C will appreciate this for sure!”
